Week of November 28

Welcome back everyone we hope you had a happy Thanksgiving and a nice vacation break. The children did a wonderful job at the show and we are very proud of them!

This week we jumped right into the holiday season! The children helped create a fireplace and painted their own stockings. They also made potatoe latkes and dreidels for our Hanukkah board.

We have been working hard on our morning work. We worked on addition problems. The children had to cut and paste the numbers, sort them then glue them down in numerical order. They cut and pasted lowercase letters, then matched them to the corresponding uppercase letter.  For some children this was a little challenging but everyone stuck with it and completed it.
The children have also been learning new holiday songs and singing with bells during music. Miss Lisa is continuing the violin lesson and teaching the children about the proper way to hold and play it. They have had a great week singing holiday songs and getting into the spirit!

This Wednesday in Mandarin we counted from 1 to 20 using an abacus. We also read a book about hands and fingers and the amazing things they can do. Then we learned the Chinese version of the fingerplay "Open, Shut Them". The children then colored and wrote the number 20 in Mandarin.

Have a great weekend!
Susan and Sara
