Week of December 19

We had a great last week before vacation . Your children were very busy finishing their gifts and cards they make for you. We cooked lots and lots of latkes on Tuesfay with the Quarter note class .  We measured, mixed and cooked  all morning long. For snack we ate our latkes with applesauce then saved the rest for you  to enjoy during our holiday party.  Also that morning your children. Had lots of fun freeze dancing with miss Sara in the music room.
Fuse beads were a huge hit this week. The children made Santa and elf hats by cutting and gluing on glitter and Pom poms. We have been rehearsing our songs daily to perform for you.

Thank you all for coming to the performance and holiday party the children really seemed to enjoy it.  Happy holidays and a happy new year see you in 2017!

Week of December 12

We started off this week by making Jewish stars out of Popsicle sticks and glitter paint to hang on the Windows! The children enjoyed making holiday cards for you. They have been working hard on their gifts. We made edible dreidels and Christmas trees. The children enjoyed eating their masterpieces!
Our sensory table is filled with rice and the children have really loved playing with it. We also transformed the dramatic play area into Santa's Workshop which the children have loved. They created Santa Claus beards out of the cotton and paraded around the room.
We have continued to learn and recognize our Kindergarden sight words and work on our letters. The addition at morning meeting has been a big hit. We have also been practicing math problems on the white board which the children have really taken a liking too.

We will resume our travels to Israel after the holiday break!

I am 4 years old-- Wǒ sì suì
I am 4 1/2 years old--Wǒ sì suì bàn
I am 5 years old--wǒ wǔ suì

We also sang a song about the elephants. The lyrics are translated as below--

Elephant, Elephant, why is your trunk so long?
Mom says a long snout is beautiful.

Week of December 5th

Good afternoon parents,
This week we were full of the holiday spirit. Miss Sara had the children very busy decorating our classroom to make it festive for both Hannukah and Chtistmas. We have read many books about the holidays from some classics like How the Grinch Stole Christmas, A Blues Clues Chanukah, Hanukkah oh Hanukkah,  Thomas Christmas Delivery and Hanukkah Mom and Christmas Dad. Your creative children made our tree on the door by stamping paint circles and using their fingers to make the lights. Our windows are adorned with reindeer and candy canes.

We are finishing up our Pre K lowercase letter workbooks and beginning to work on our Kindergarden books. Some of the children have already brought it home as they finish them we will send them home.  We focused a lot on math this week from writing our numbers to doing math problems. You should all be very proud! Your children are all progressing in thier math skills. We are learning to recognize the addition and equal signs and  the difference between the two.

Happy Birthday to Sasha we celebrated with a nice story from Dad and chocolate cake!!
Have a great weekend see you next week.
