Week of march 19

Happy spring!

This week we enjoyed both spring and winter weather. The children had a great time playing outside on warm days and still having snow, it was the best of both worlds. We have been busy working on our letter and sound books, kindergarten sight worlds and math skills. Your children have been writing their numbers and doing simple addition problems. Many of your children have brought home their orange letter and sound kindergarten books. I would recommend keeping these books as they will most likely use them again next year. The children work at their own pace.  We encourage them to do as many pages as they can as we would like to send the book home.
They  created their own version if Georgia  O'keeffe's poppies. The children carefully drew their picture in pencil then used water colors to bring their painting to life.

We are getting very excited for our Art show on April 2.
Have a great weekend

In mandarin this week
This week we read "Who Ate It?" by Japanese Children's book illustrator and writer Taro Gomi. The children had fun finding the food hidden among the animals in the pictures. They also got a chance the review counting, as each page has one more animal than the previous one.

Since there are elephants on the second page of the book, we also reviewed The Elephant Song.

Elephant, elephant,
Why is your trunk so long?
Mom says a long snout is beautiful.

That's it for this week. Have a great weekend!

Sasha to be invisible and fly
Hugo shoot lasers out of my eye and get money to buy toys
Adam to cast spells on people
Danny flying fast and to own every store in the world
Tihan poke power

Your children had a fun filled week celebrating Dr Seuss' birthday. We played lots of games including ring toss around the Seuss characters, pin the hat on the cat and had several photo frames to play with. We got together as a school to celebrate and enjoy lots of Seuss treats. They enjoyed Mr. Browns chocolate milk, the lorax cheese puffs, green eggs and ham pretzel treats and one fish two fish blue jello. A great time was had by all! We read lots of his stories throughout the week.

The children also finished working in their workbooks and reviewed the letters as well as writing words.

Have a nice weekend, see you all on Monday!
