Week of January 16

Hello parents,
We just finished up our Israel unit this week.  Your children made the western wall ( the Kotel ) and the next day they all made wishes and stuck them in the wall. Then the children left the wall walking backward .  Miss Sara told us how to walk after inserting the wishes.  Did you know it was bad luck to turn your back to the walk you must walk backwards after you finish placing your wish or it is 5 years bad luck ! We made bracelets and necklaces to sell in our shuk on Friday. We glued and glittered diamonds.  Israel is one of the worlds suppliers  both in tradet and manufacture of  polished diamonds.  Israel supplies most of the stones that are in diamond jewelry worldwide.  We ended our unit by creating and visiting a shuk in Jerusalem where your children were given shekels to shop with. They loved it! They bought toys , jewelry, stickers stuffed animals and then they bought their snack! After we were finished we invited the  quarter notes in to buy their snacks and shop with us.
It was lots of fun for everyone.
We have some exciting news to share for Adam and his family. Adam became a big brother to Ronak congratulations to the entire family!  Have a great weekend

Week of January 9th

Shalom from Israel! The whole notes have officially landed in the holy land. We had a great first week starting off by learning about the flag of Israel. The children painted the flag and learned different facts about it. We have been learning a lot about the Dead Sea and it's healing abilities. The children also made handprint camels which completed our desert scene painted on the window! We made hamsa's and learned the meaning of the symbol.
On Friday Danny's Ima and Aba came in to speak about Israel and make pita bread! The children loved making the pita and rolling the dough. It was so delicious. Thank you Scott and Keren for coming in!
Our water table was transformed into the Dead Sea then became the Desert at the end of the week. Shabbat Shalom from Israel have a great weekend
