Week of October 31

We had a nice full fun week celebrating Halloween and Klaudia's birthday. We were finally back to a normal schedule and the children are settling back into our routine, what a dfference a five day week makes!! We were able to work individually and in small groups on our lowercase letters and geometry boards. While in small groups this activity allows the children to manipulate the shapes they build language skills as they talk about what they are going with the shapes. It helps them develop spatial awareness and social emotional skills as they expirience the concepts through cooperative play.  For art this week the children made corn and pumpkin pie with Miss Sara for thanksgiving. We have also been reading many books about thanksgiving and discussing the meaning of the holiday.
It was so nice to meet with all of you this week and talk about how much we enjoy your children and what wonderful progress they have all made.  We are very proud of them.   Looking forward to the remaining conferences . As always if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Sara and I we would be more than happy to speak with you .

This week in Mandarin class we reviewed the colors of red, green, blue, yellow and orange.  The teacher laid down colored construction paper on the floor and when a color was called, the children had to find a toy with matching color and put it on the paper.
We then watched a short video that showed us counting 1-10. We also learned how to write number 6 (六).

The children are also building vocabulary in greeting-- they now can say "Hello", "How Are You?", and "How Are You Today?" in Mandarin. They are amazing!

Here is the video for counting from 1 to 10.

Have a great weekend!
