Week of May 1

Hello parents,
We have been reviewing and talking a lot about kindergarten readiness .Reviewing our sight words and how to use them in a sentence as well as recognizing addition and subtraction.    We read listing Larry goes to school and reviewed whole body listening. Talked about how we should behave during school for example when to be loud and silly, We will continue to talk about how to treat our friends and. Classmates.
I have begun to evaluate your. Children with the same assessment we used in the beginning of the year.  . I am amazed and very proud of their improvements and accomplishments.

Week of April 24

Hello parents,
Your children have been working on their special presents they made for Mother's Day .  We have some special things planned.

This week we used finger puppets to practice greetings. After the color of yellow was introduced, we read "Little Blue And Little Yellow" by Leo Lionni. Little Blue "Xiǎo Lán" and Little Yellow "Xiǎo Huáng" are two best friends, and when they hug, they become green. Through this wonderful story of friendship, differences and acceptance, we reviewed the many colors!

Week of march 19

Happy spring!

This week we enjoyed both spring and winter weather. The children had a great time playing outside on warm days and still having snow, it was the best of both worlds. We have been busy working on our letter and sound books, kindergarten sight worlds and math skills. Your children have been writing their numbers and doing simple addition problems. Many of your children have brought home their orange letter and sound kindergarten books. I would recommend keeping these books as they will most likely use them again next year. The children work at their own pace.  We encourage them to do as many pages as they can as we would like to send the book home.
They  created their own version if Georgia  O'keeffe's poppies. The children carefully drew their picture in pencil then used water colors to bring their painting to life.

We are getting very excited for our Art show on April 2.

In mandarin this week
This week we read "Who Ate It?" by Japanese Children's book illustrator and writer Taro Gomi. The children had fun finding the food hidden among the animals in the pictures. They also got a chance the review counting, as each page has one more animal than the previous one.

Since there are elephants on the second page of the book, we also reviewed The Elephant Song.

Elephant, elephant,
Why is your trunk so long?
Mom says a long snout is beautiful.

That's it for this week. Have a great weekend!
